MOORINGS

Thank you for your interest in the Elizabeth Harbour Conservation Partnership and our mooring fields off Stocking Island. Our professionally designed, installed and maintained moorings offer boaters easy access to the best that Elizabeth Harbour has to offer. Boaters can expect reliable moorings while protecting ecologically critical seagrass meadows. By utilizing our moorings you are supporting sustainable tourism and the work of EHCP to protect the harbour for current and future generations. We ask that you follow the Guidelines and Instructions below to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience!

Mooring Field Safety Guidelines

We have a few simple requests and tips to make sure everyone stays safe and secure on our EHCP moorings!
  • Slow/idle speed only in mooring fields.
  • No anchoring within the mooring field or placement of accessory anchors for any reason.
  • No rafting. The mooring system is designed to accomodate a single vessel up to 60 feet in length.
  • The moorings can be used in typical weather conditions, not in a tropical storm or hurricane conditions (sustained winds over 39 mph)
  • To ensure the safety of swimmers in the areas, please do not dispose of any food waste from your vessel. Do not feed the wildlife.
  • Blackwater discharge is illegal in Elizabeth Harbour.
  • Please use mast light after dark.
  • No long-term/wet storage. Boats must not be left unattended for more than 72 hours.
  • Reservations only. Please do not tie up to a buoy unless you have a confirmed reservation. If your reserved buoy is occupied, please contact 242-829-3427 immediately or send us a message via Dockwa. To minimize the chance of your reserved mooring being picked up accidentally (if you move the boat for a few hours), please consider tying a small float to the thimble to indicate the mooring is taken.

Moorings Tie-Up Instructions

Our moorings are designed to be safe and secure, and we ask that you follow these instructions to to reduce the risk of damage to your boat and the mooring. Thank you!
  • Please use two independent lines from two separate bow cleats to attach to the mooring. Each line should pass through the thimble and be secured back to the cleat it came from. This provides redundancy and will prevent chafing of your attachment lines.
  • Do not attach mooring pick up lines directly to your vessel.
  • Use the thimble only. Attachment lines should not be affixed to any portion of the mooring system other than the eyelet/thimble at the end of the pick-up line.
  • Attachment lines must be in good condition, at least 1/2 inch in diameter and no longer than four feet in length.
  • Please do not attempt to change, modify or alter  the mooring anchor, hard or soft tackle, or pick-up lines.
  • No use of any hard tackle such as shackles, snap hooks, thimbles or chain to attach to the mooring system. “Soft shackles” may be used to attach to the thimble only.
