Partnership with the Bahamas National Trust

The EHCP has a long-standing partnership with the Bahamas National Trust that allows both organizations to collaborate and share resources to reach mutual goals.

In 2015, the EHCP completed a project to put the first infrastructure in Moriah Harbour Cay National Park which included the construction of Basil’s Classroom, a large gazebo on Stocking Island, and the installation of snorkeling moorings throughout the park.

In 2023/2024, the BNT and EHCP worked together to install new mooring fields to accommodate visiting yachts in Elizabeth Harbour and in Moriah Harbour Cay National Park. Monitoring and maintenance of the mooring fields is ongoing.

The EHCP makes our moorings vessel available for field trips offered to the community by the BNT.

Qualifying Local Captains

In 2024, the EHCP facilitated and covered the cost for 10 local aspiring captains to obtain the required in-person training for STCW Basic Safety Training Certification and B-Class Captain’s License coursework in Exuma. The EHCP arranged for instructors from Ship Mate Ltd. to travel to Exuma to provide the required 7 days of in-person training. The EHCP is committed to increasing opportunities for entrepreneurs and improving the standard of tourism services in Exuma.

Supporting Local Charities

Each year the EHCP commits to giving back to our community. In 2024 and 2025, the EHCP donated over $10,000 to support the National Family Island Regatta, International Coastal Cleanup Day, and to local charities through an annual mooring ball auction hosted by the George Town Cruising Regatta Committee.
